A striking example of early Victorian porcelain, this scalloped dessert plate features an asymmetrical shell-form shape with an ornate handle, finely accented in hand-applied gilding. The radiating gold lines emphasize its unique contours, while the center is delicately hand-painted with a romantic bouquet of pansies, roses, and daisies framed by a reticulated inner border.
Possibly English or Continental in origin, this plate is unmarked aside from a faint pattern or decorator’s number on the reverse. Ideal as a serving piece or display, it pairs beautifully with other refined gilt porcelain of the period.
Excellent antique condition with light wear to gilding appropriate to age.
