Discover the Charm of Brocante French Antiques at Round The White Barn

Since 1999, Martha and David Parnell have journeyed through the picturesque backroads and bustling antiques fairs of France, unearthing beautiful, unusual, and often quirky antiques with rich histories. Thier passion for the true French country style, ranging from rustic to refined, is evident in the exquisite blend of antique furniture, decorative items, and utilitarian pieces they offer. Alongside these French treasures, the Parnells bring variety with pieces from Spain, Italy, and Scandinavian countries, specializing in 18th to 20th century copper and pottery.

In 2024, the Parnells are celebrating the 25th anniversary of the founding of Brocante French Antiques. Based in Lake Charles, Louisiana, they have showcased their curated collections in numerous locations, including Houston, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Jackson, Mississippi. Their dedication and eye for unique finds have earned them a place in premier antiques shows, including The White Barn at the Compound Antiques Show at Round Top and the Antiques and Garden Show in Nashville, Tennessee. This year marks their 33rd show at Round Top, a testament to their enduring presence and popularity in the antiques community.

Each piece at Brocante French Antiques is personally selected by the Parnells, ensuring that every item has a story to tell. Their booth at The White Barn offers a shopping experience that transports customers to the French countryside, capturing its charm and lifestyle. The Parnells’ love for the south of France, an area brimming with color, history, and great food, shines through in their collections. While they feature treasures from various parts of France and other countries, Provence remains a constant source of inspiration, drawing them back year after year.

“We are often asked what ‘Brocante’ means,” Martha and David explain. “In France, brocante shops contain an eclectic mix of period antiques and objects of charm that represent the life and work of the people in that region. This blend of decorative and utilitarian items defines the true country French style. At brocante shops, you never know what you will find. They are full of interesting, beautiful, and often quirky things just waiting for a new home. When we started Brocante French Antiques, we wanted to give our customers that same type of shopping experience that represents the French countryside and its lifestyle.”
