Antique Venetian Gilded Copper Lantern from Italy

A charming Italian Venetian hanging lantern crafted in gilt and polychrome lacquered iron sheet, designed with a hexagonal body and clear glass panels. Far from ordinary English reproductions, this lantern has the romantic decorative character associated with Venetian lighting, including embossed metalwork, scrolling foliate ornament, pierced details, and warm aged gilt finish.

The lantern features a domed crown with hand-painted red floral accents, decorative side scrolls, leaf-form embellishments, and a shaped lower finial. Each side is fitted with small clear glass windows; two panes are missing, which has been reflected in the condition notes.

The interior has been fitted with candle-style lights, giving the piece a beautiful glow when illuminated. A lovely choice for an entry, powder room, hallway, covered interior vestibule, or layered into a collected antique interior.

Condition Note

Wear is consistent with age and use. Expected surface wear, patina, small losses, rubbing to gilt and polychrome finish, oxidation, minor imperfections, and two missing glass panes. These details contribute to the lantern’s authentic antique/vintage character.
