French Rococo Giltwood Mirror with Figural Crest

A tall French Rococo-style giltwood mirror with a wonderfully theatrical crest of scrolling acanthus, flowers, and carved putti framed by a bold looping cartouche. The softly shaped frame is embellished with foliate carvings, beaded trim, and carved ornament at the shoulders and feet. Its mellow aged gilding gives it that proper old French look—fancy, romantic, and just a little bit ridiculous in the best possible way.
