Bernard Buffet was a French painter and lithographer, known for his figurative and expressionist style. He was born in Paris in 1928 and began his career in the late 1940s. His work was highly acclaimed in France and internationally, and he received many awards throughout his career.
Buffet's lithographs were highly sought after and he produced a large number of them over the course of his career. Lithography is a printmaking process that involves drawing on a flat stone or metal plate with a greasy substance, then applying ink to the plate and transferring the image to paper. Buffet's lithographs often feature dark, somber imagery with sharp lines and heavy black ink.
